Boyd Cru Wines is a family-owned winery based in Maryland, established in April 2023 by Matthew and Jon’ll Boyd. As Maryland’s first Black-owned winery, their mission is to make wine approachable and foster community connections, emphasizing inclusivity and accessibility in an industry where diversity has been limited.

Founding and Inspiration: The Boyds’ passion for wine has been integral to their personal journey, marking significant life events and celebrations. The impetus to start their wine company arose during the pandemic after the loss of close family members, inspiring them to honor their loved ones by building a legacy centered around wine and community.

Wine Production and Philosophy: Committed to sustainability, Boyd Cru Wines produces and manufactures all their wines in Poolesville, Maryland, using 100% Maryland-grown grapes. Their wines are described as approachable, vibrant, joyful, and liberating, aiming to remove the pretentiousness often associated with wine culture. They focus on creating unique blends, pairing wine with art, music, moods, and moments to offer consumers, especially new wine drinkers, a fresh and enjoyable experience.
